Who we are:

MAC, Inc. is a statewide, not-for-profit organization of animal professionals. It was formed in February of 2000 to help promote collaboration among animal care professionals.

By joining together, MAC members have created strong alliances and developed new programs and initiatives. Ever increasing numbers of Massachusetts animals have benefited from this cooperation.

MAC members include:

Animal control officers
Veterinarians
Representatives from other shelters (open admission and no-kill)
Canine breed rescue
Feline rescue
Pet supply retailers
Cruelty investigators
Attorneys
Representatives of state agencies, humane societies, state veterinary associations, and veterinary schools

What we do:

MAC members have initiated task forces on a number of fronts. MAC members and volunteers have joined together to create Task Forces to work on a specific project collaboratively as a group. Projects include:

  • Feral Cats
  • Reshaping the Shelter Image
  • Behavioral Evaluation of Shelter Dogs
  • ACO/Shelter Support
  • Foster Care
  • Resource Directory
  • Advocacy Council

Meetings:

Members meet four times a year. Upcoming meetings will be held on Sunday, September 28 (Annual Meeting: Sheltering and ADoptions Opportunities for Cats around the Country) and Sunday, November 14 (Animal Control) at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, MA.

Meetings feature invited speakers. Each meeting includes an opportunity for members to update others about progress with their task forces.

MAC meetings promote vigorous discussion and positive interactions, and the animals benefit as a result.

Membership:

MAC membership opportunities include "Voting member" and "Honorary" categories.

Answers to common questions about MAC membership are in our Membership FAQ.

For more information, please contact MAC.

MAC Volunteers:

We are always searching for volunteers to serve on MAC task forces.

If you are not an animal care professional, we can still use your help!

You don't need lots of experience. The only requirement is that you care about helping our animal friends.
