The Spay Waggin’ is a subsidized spay/neuter program created by the Animal Rescue League of Boston to assist clients in financial need. Staffed by an Animal Rescue League of Boston veterinarian and two certified veterinary technicians, the Spay Waggin’ features a preparation area, a fully equipped surgical suite and a recovery ward. The Spay Waggin’ makes monthly scheduled stops throughout the South Shore and the Cape to perform surgeries on an appointment-only basis. The catmobile is a mobile spay/neuter program providing low cost spay/neuter, rabies vaccine and nail trim package for owned cats – $120 for female cats; $80 for male. You can book an appointment online 24/7 at or by phone at 978-465-1940. This program is run by the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society which also offers Sunday Spay/Neuter Clinics for feral and un-owned cats in partnership with the MSPCA in Methuen; these cats are brought in by volunteer trappers and are treated and returned to the colony where they were trapped.

The MSPCA Cape Adoption Center will be holding a series of low cost cat spay/neuter clinics for low income families throughout 2014. Female cats will be $30 and male cats will be $20, which includes the spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine and flea preventative.
