How do I get the Pet Plate?
Cost:
Initial/Standard Registration Fee:$60
Special Plate Fee: $40
Renewal Fee: $100 every 2 years
Initial Purchase:
MAC: $28 for spay/neuter (tax deductible)
MASSDOT: $12 for manufacturing the plate
Renewal:
MAC: $40 for spay/neuter (tax deductible)
Sales of the “I’m Animal Friendly” license plate support spay and neuter services for cats, dogs, and rabbits. You can order the plate at anytime as long as your registration is in good standing.

Thanks to individuals who have purchased and renewed the “I’m Animal Friendly” license plate, thousands of animals receive spay and neuter services every year. MAC distributes funds raised through sales of the plate to non-profit animal shelters, rescue groups, and municipal animal control agencies across Massachusetts. Grant applications are available in late winter and grants are typically awarded in June. See below to see how grant recipients are chosen.

A five member Grant Awards Committee reviews grant application packages and makes recommendations for funding. Members of the Grant Awards Committee are an animal control officer, a veterinarian, a MAC member, and two members of the shelter and rescue community from different areas of Massachusetts.

Have someone in your life who loves animals? A gift certificate for the “I’m Animal Friendly” license plate makes the purr-fect gift.
Note: Gift recipients must order the plate themselves because they need to have their license and registration handy to complete the application. The total is $100.00 (registration renewal plus the $40 special plate fee).
