Mission Statement

Providing the Massachusetts animal welfare community with informational and financial resources, opportunities for professional growth, collaboration, and networking to improve the welfare of companion animals in our state.

What We Do

MAC members and volunteers have joined together to create task forces (some temporary until a specific problem is resolved and some more permanent, that become programs) to work collaboratively on specific projects including:

Current programs:

Current task forces:

  • Effective Shelter & Rescue Operations
  • Shelter Statistics Task Force

Past task forces:

  • Feral Cats
  • Reshaping the Shelter Image
  • Behavioral Evaluation of Shelter Dogs
  • ACO/Shelter Support
  • Rabies Clinic Task Force
  • Foster Care
  • Resource Directory
  • Spay Worcester Task Force
  • Pit Bull Spay/Neuter Task Force

Meetings

Members meet three times a year. Information about upcoming meetings, which are held at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, MA, can be found here.

Meetings feature invited speakers. Each meeting includes an opportunity for members to update others about progress with their task forces. MAC meetings promote vigorous discussion and positive interactions, and the animals benefit as a result.

MAC Volunteers

We are always searching for volunteers to serve on MAC task forces. If you are not an animal care professional, we can still use your help! You don’t need lots of experience. The only requirement is that you care about helping animals.
